First Day of School – Tuesday, September 2

We are excited to welcome all Mustangs back for the first day of school on Tuesday, September 2! Below is everything you need to know to get the year off to a great start.

Arrival and Start Time

  • Classes begin at 9:00 am. Students should plan to arrive 10–15 minutes early.

  • Enter through the front doors (South side) or the student parking lot entrance (North side).

  • Please note: the North entrance will be locked shortly after arrival. Students arriving late must use the front doors.

Finding Your Homeroom

  • Homeroom lists will be posted throughout the school. This is where the day begins.

  • If you cannot find your name, please visit the front office.

Orientation and Yearbooks

  • Homeroom teachers will guide students through a short orientation session and assist with locker selection.

  • Last year’s yearbooks will also be handed out at this time.

Daily Schedule

  • The first day follows a Day 2 schedule with a modified bell timetable.

  • Weekly schedule reminder:

    • Mondays & Wednesdays = Day 1

    • Tuesdays & Thursdays = Day 2

    • Fridays alternate between Day 1 and Day 2.

Course Scheduling and Changes

  • If you do not yet have courses scheduled, please see our Guidance Counselors first thing in the morning.

  • Guidance will be focused on ensuring all students have timetables in place before processing course changes.

  • Course changes will be prioritized by grade level:

    • Grade 12 → Grade 11 → Grade 10.

  • All Semester 1 course changes must be completed by September 12.

Technology and Devices

  • Students are encouraged to bring a fully-charged laptop or Chromebook each day.

  • We have a limited number of devices available for loan, but personal devices are preferred.

  • Chromebooks are recommended for affordability, durability, and functionality.

  • CTS classrooms that require more advanced computing are equipped with appropriate devices.

Transportation & Parking

  • Bussing: Pick-up and drop-off take place in the North parking lot (Tri-Schools site). Supervisors will be on hand to help new riders.

  • Student drivers: Parking passes are available from the front office. The student lot is accessed from the North side near the Airdrie Town & Country Centre (not through the staff lot).

  • Parent drop-off: Please use 3rd Ave NE.

    • Park only on the school side of the road.

    • Do not park in front of nearby houses (permit parking only).

    • The spaces closest to the front doors are reserved for accessible parking.

School Supplies

  • No formal supply list is required. Students should bring basic items: binders, lined paper, notebooks, pens, pencils.

  • Teachers will advise if specialized supplies are needed (e.g., graphing calculators for math).

Need Help?

If you have any questions on the first day, please ask any of the adults in our building — we are happy to help you get settled.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back and kicking off an exciting new school year together!

Land Acknowledgment

Rocky View Schools would like to acknowledge the land and recognize all the Indigenous Peoples whose footprints have marked these lands from time immemorial. Together, we can learn and honour the Ways of Knowing of Indigenous Peoples for all future generations.
