Global Hockey Academy
Students involved in the hockey/life skills program at GMHS will have a unique schedule to allow for academics, athletics, and on ice skill development. The U18 AAA Bisons along with the Global 10-12 program will operate in blocks 1 & 2 Monday to Friday. This program operates its programs out of Ron Ebbesen Arena, the BGC Club, and Genesis Place. During classroom time, students will complete English and Social credits along with a variety of CTS, Leadership, and Phys Ed credits. The academic portion is set up for the student athletes to have no homework if they use class time efficiently. If the students are unable to meet academic standards based on work ethic they will be held off the ice times to focus on academics.
A private bus has been arranged to transport Global student athletes to GMHS for 3rd & 4th blocks. Once back at the school, students will be involved in regular classes, completing their science and math options. Global athletes are expected to incorporate themselves into the Mustang culture. We encourage them to take part in extra-curriculars, school activities, volunteering, and leadership opportunities. This program is run by the U18 AAA Bison staff. It is meant to be operated as a life skills program so there is heavy emphasis on academics, leadership, mindset, accountability and the importance of being a kind, positive, and respectful human being. The Hockey portion comes second and is a privilege.
The mission of Global Sports Academy is to enhance the educational and leadership experiences of student athletes while redefining the journey through youth sports.
